SSP was hired by Kell-Munoz Architects to develop plans for the Regional Academic Health Center at the University of Texas at Brownsville. The site plan solution includes several intimate courtyards and landscape spaces. Emphasis was placed on providing shade, color and strong site lines for sculpture and water features.

The focal point of the RAHC is the central courtyard with its sculptural centerpiece, soft granite gravel paving, and a lush canopy of weeping fig trees. Low planter walls will define the courtyard and provide informal seating. Adequate courtyard space will allow for tables and chairs for small receptions or meetings. The centerpiece provides an ideal display area for a dynamic sculpture reflecting the fields of health and medicine.
